I participated for years as an assistant and I also got to make a presentation so I knew from within the cultural heritage days of the university. But, finally, I had to be part of the organizing committee and much more details had to be polished than initially thought. In the end, the meetings, seminars and presentations were just one part of the whole event.

Already in the final phase, it was necessary to square the last details, apparently simple things but that require fine work if everything is to go as it should. For example, we had to order the tapes to carry the accreditations of the participants in the heritage days. According to what they told me, a new firm had to be found to take care of them after the previous year there were complaints about their operation.

This is the fine print of an event like this, even the ribbons for the accreditations may not render adequately. I was in charge of looking for a custom tape manufacturer to make the material. And of course, there was some pressure because you could not fail more. That is why I opted for a well established company with extensive experience in the manufacture of all kinds of tapes made to measure with various materials.

But everything would be much easier if there was no budget, but there always is. Therefore, I had to negotiate a price that fits the budget and we finally managed to reach an agreement. For me it was taking a load off my shoulders because I was convinced that this custom tape maker would do an accurate job.

When the badging tapes finally arrived, everything was as it should be. Once the days started everything went well and there was no major failure in the organization. Our task as a committee is that the participants, both the public and the speakers themselves, feel as comfortable as possible.
